Waypoint addition via route planning

Currently when doing route planning the user cannot drop way points off of road/trails that are not currently "approved".  At this time when the user attempts to place waypoints off of roads or trails a warning is given of "unable to create route to this location".  This issue with this is that the user can clearly see a road/path while in satellite view and the software will not allow the use of waypoints thus not allowing route planning to occur in this area.

Make it so the user can place waypoints where they want.

  I know this is an old topic, but has there been an update or work around added?
